(208) 624-3231If you are suffering from red or itchy eyes, make your first call to a professional optometrist at Summit Eyecare in Merlin, Pancheri, Pocatello, St. Anthony, Rexburg, and Idaho Falls. You might think you are just experiencing the effects of seasonal allergens. However, there are other causes for red and itchy eyes that require the attention of professional eye doctors.
We always recommend that the first step to take for itchy eye relief is to consult with one of our experienced eye doctors. They understand the many causes of vision problems and will ensure there isn’t a more serious problem than seasonal allergens. An eye exam is often required, especially if you wear or have worn contacts.
Once you’ve scheduled an eye exam with one of our experienced eye doctors, you can find some immediate relief by following these four additional steps:
1. The first thing is to not rub your eyes. This can be difficult, but it is important in case you have some irritant or small particle causing the itching. The next thing is to remove your contacts and do not use them until after you see the optometrist.
2. Place a damp, clean washcloth over your eyes after flushing them with cool running water.
3. Purchase a vial of high-quality over-the-counter eye drops that are made for allergies. Our staff will recommend a brand, or you can stop in before your exam to pick up a vial of the recommended eye drops.
4. Avoid exposure to the outdoors or bright sun until your eyes have been examined by one of our eye doctors.
Your eye problems may be due to dry eye syndrome or a variety of other issues. Your vision is important enough to not take any risks for the reason you are having problems.
Reach out today to a qualified and experienced optometrist at any of our Summit Eyecare offices in Merlin, Pancheri, Pocatello, St. Anthony, Rexburg, and Idaho Falls. Just one call, and we can help determine the reason for your itchy eyes. Our caring eye doctors will then help determine the best way to provide immediate relief.
